Andrew Cuomo's Token Gesture Fails To Follow California Governor Brown's Example

Prelude to Cuomo's "State of the State Speech"

    Andrew Cuomo has tried to follow California's Governor Brown's example with "Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and his top staff will take 5 percent pay cuts as a way to "lead by example" as he asks for salary freezes for state workers and budget cuts to an array of interests." and "he will reduce the overall expenses for the executive chamber by 5 percent, saving about $775,000 by the end of the fiscal year March 31."

Do the arithmetic,  5% of executive expenses is $775,000 or 100% is $15,500,000 for 3 months to March 31;  or $62 million for the year for executive chamber expenses, or you should have cut $15.5 million from your budget.

 While Governor Brown is serious about leading by example, Governor Cuomo hopes his gestures will show he tried.
